Associate Accountant

Location: HOPE Clinic - Main
Education: Associate Degree in Accounting
Work Experience: Minimum 2 years relevant work experience. Knowledge of fund accounting and/or non-profit account experience is a plus.
Salary Minimum: $13/ hour
Salary Maximum: $17/ hour
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

The Associate Accountant’s primary responsibility is to provide accounting support to finance department at HOPE Clinic.

  • Enter cash and check deposits, credit card transactions and other related accounting transactions into the general ledger.
  • Manage accounts payable processes including entering invoices into AP system on a daily basis and performing weekly check run.
  • Prepare and submit invoices to various collaborative entities and/or grantors according to fully executed agreements.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations as well as all balance sheet account reconciliation.
  • Maintain balance sheet account supporting schedules, including but not limited to Fixed Assets, Capital Leases, Prepaid Expenses, Accounts Payable, Other Payables, etc.
  • Ensure the timely close out of month-end and assist in the preparation of financial statement.
  • Perform annual inventory count and update inventory cost at year-end base on first-in/ first-out method.
  • Assist and support finance department with annual reports, tax returns, and external audit(s).
  • Perform other additional tasks as requested by Staff Accountant II and/or CFO.


Eligibility Specialist

Position Requirements: Bilingual- Burmese and English


Under general supervision, the Eligibility Specialist will verify patient eligibility and assist in health program applications to the patients. Maintains all patient information and documents while providing high quality customer care services to patients.

  • Determine patient eligibility information and qualifications.
  • Assist patients in enrollment and re-enrollment of Medicaid, Affordable Care Act (ACA), and other state and federal programs.
  • Gather pre-authorizations from Medicaid HMO’s Primary Care Physician (PCP) for adequate billing.
  • Service and respond to customer and patient questions, issues and/or concerns.
  • Securely and accurately document all patient information.
  • Interpret dictation and respond accordingly.
  • Ensure timely submission of paperwork and reports.
  • Maintain updated Primary Health Care (PHC) information and forms.
  • Verify patient insurance and information is acceptable by partnering institutions.
  • Make certain that our patients get the best possible care.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Registered Dental Assistant

Location: HOPE Clinic - Alief
Reports to: Dental Director
Education: High School Diploma or GED; Associate degree preferred
Work Experience: 1 year or more in dental field preferred
Salary Minimum: $10.00/hour
Salary Maximum: $15.00/hour
FLSA Status: Hourly – Non-Exempt

Position Requirements: Completed Dental Assistant Program from accredited institution. Pit & Fissure Sealant Certified. RDA Licensed.
Language Preference: Bilingual in English and Vietnamese


Working with the Dental Director, the Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) will provide a variety of patient care, office, and laboratory assistance to dental patients of Asian American Health Coalition (AAHC) DBA HOPE Clinic. Responsible for chair-side navigation activities based on a given assignment of Dental Director, and will work hand-in-hand to assist while Dental Director examines and treats patients. RDA will also prepare operatories for treatment.

  • Sterilize instruments and prepare treatment rooms for dental procedures
  • Expose and mount dental diagnostic x-rays.
  • Greet and prepare patients for treatment.
  • Record patients' medical and dental histories.
  • Make preliminary impressions.
  • Pour and trim study casts.
  • Setting up and disassembling patient rooms.
  • Provide routine care to clinical equipment.
  • Setting up clinical instruments, equipment and materials.
  • Sustaining patient comfort, listening to patients’ needs and educating them on dental procedures.
  • Work efficiently to maintain doctor’s schedule while adhering to all OSHA and safety policies and procedures.
  • Manage Dental supplies.
  • Provide comprehensive post-op dental procedures to patients.

Medical Assistant

Location: HOPE Clinic - Main
Reports to: Medical Assistant Team Lead

Salary Minimum: $11.00/Hour
Salary Maximum: $20.00/Hour

Medical Assistants perform administrative and clinical duties under the direction of licensed healthcare provider.

  • Competency in front desk, eligibility and check out procedures
  • Place patients in exam rooms, obtain history and vital signs, and document in the medical record
  • Assist in the examination and procedures for patients with provider
  • Provide treatments as ordered such as aerosol treatments, immunizations, and injections
  • Assess medical and medical education needs of the patient and provide education as directed by provider
  • Discharge patients giving all patient documents and provider instructions
  • Perform laboratory and diagnostic procedures such as venipuncture, urinalysis, glucose, hemoglobin, and electrocardiogram
  • Provide translation assistance as needed
  • Triage patients in person and on the telephone
  • Answer telephone calls and messages within the same day
  • Provide education and instructions on lab and diagnostic results, medication refills by telephone and in person for patients
  • Keep patient exam rooms and nursing station stocked with supplies and organized
  • Review the providers schedule throughout the day and prior to the start of shift to ensure patient flow
  • Follow-up on no show appointments as directed by providers
  • Work with other team members and manager to implement daily duties and new programs as needed
  • Participate in performance improvement activities, staff trainings, weekly team huddles
  • Reports errors or issues promptly to supervisor
  • Maintain security of medical records and patients health information according to HIPAA standards
  • Order medical supplies as determined by inventory needs

Optometric Technician

Location: HOPE Clinic - Main
Reports to: Business Services Supervisor
Education: High School Diploma or GED; Associate degree preferred
Work Experience: 1 year relevant work experience

Position Requirements:

Provide support to the Optical department by managing patient flow. The Optometric Technician will register new patients and update existing patient demographics by collecting patient detailed information including personal health information.

  • Help patients select eyeglass and lens treatments including tints and coatings
  • Interpret prescriptions written by optometrists
  • Collect eye measurements including corneal width and thickness
  • Create work orders for lab technicians to ensure delivery of the proper lenses
  • Assist with clinic service promotions.
  • Analyze patient’s optical problems and coordinates solutions with other clinics, doctors and laboratories
  • Verify spectacle prescriptions upon receipt from laboratory
  • Educating clients on proper eyeglass and contact lens care
  • Keeping track of orders, prescriptions, and inventory
  • Communicate with optical laboratories and vendors to expedite delivery of optical goods
  • Communicate with doctors and students to resolve patient visual complaints and problems
  • Answer patient questions in person and over the telephone
  • Adjust eyeglasses to ensure a proper fit
  • Repair broken frames

Patient Support Specialist

Location: HOPE Clinic - Main
Education: High school diploma or GED; Associates degree preferred
Work Experience: 1 year customer service and/or healthcare preferred
Salary Minimum: $11/ hour

FLSA Status: Hourly - Non-Exempt
Position Type: Full-Time
Position Requirements: Bilingual- Arabic and English

Facilitate patient flow by notifying the appropriate staff of the patient’s arrival. Register new patients and update existing patient demographics by collecting patient detailed patient information including personal and financial information. Provide support to medical records department managing patient records in compliance with HOPE Clinic guidelines.

  • Greet and assist patients with registration and eligibility.
  • Check in/out patients using electronic medical records.
  • Scan medical records into the system.
  • Fax/mail out medical records and necessary forms according to HIPAA/Clinic guidelines.
  • Submit and document forms and medical records in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that work assignments and information gathered from day to day work is not shared with anyone and protects all patient and agency information.
  • Log medical registration forms and record and incoming forms into electronic health record (EHR).
  • Assist with incoming calls and create telephone notes and assist with scheduling and inquiries.
  • Support Patient Services team with other duties.
  • Verify insurance eligibility for all billing denials.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned and supports the agencies Mission, Vision and Values Statement.


HOPE Clinic Volunteers Description:

Volunteering for the Asian American Health Coalition (AAHC) dba HOPE Clinic is a unique experience due to the fact that AAHC works alongside a community health center. Opportunities exist to interact with patients, doctors, and community leaders.
Duties as a Volunteer:

Your duties as a volunteer will vary based upon factors such as experience and certification.
